Interact 

Interact is Rotary's service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Its goals are very similar to Rotary's - to make new friends, improve the community, develop leadership skills, and make a difference in the world.

Interact clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least one community service project and one international service project. More than 200,000 young people are involved in Interact, with over 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas.

The MidCoast Interact Club is co-sponsored by Camden Rotary and West Bay Rotary, with West Bay taking the lead. This is an amazing group of young people whose energy, hard work and accomplishments earned them a Rotary Presidential Citation. And they have such a great time! Here are some of their most recent fund-raising activities:

Selling Valentine's Day flowers at the high school Hosting a Guatemalan-themed benefit dinner Holiday gift-wrapping in support of the animal rescue shelter A Holiday Sweets & Crafts sale Store-front window painting for Camden's "Christmas by the Sea" festival

Trail-clearing for Coastal Mountains Land Trust Raised $1,300 to provide duffel bags, with essential personal items, to the Maine Foster Family program Raised $1,500 for Rotary International during our annual MidCoast "End Polio Now" walks Collected food and raised money for the Camden Area Food Pantry Raised funds to purchase three Shelter Boxes for families made homeless by disasters Baked cookies for a Habitat for Humanity family Took school supplies to and worked with the school children of Safe Passage, a Maine-based non-profit in Guatemala City; this program works with some of the poorest, most at-risk children in Guatemala to foster hope, good health, education and opportunity in their lives And as always, the MidCoast Interact Club has been a willing and cheerful partner in many of Camden and West Bay's fundraising and volunteer activities throughout the year
